Neurofeedback - What to Expect

The First Step: Intake & Assessment

The first step is to get in touch. Most people have questions, and we are happy to provide a consultation. For any queries, please contact us.

To get to know you and give us a clearer idea if neurofeedback is right for you, we will ask you questions about your goals, history, and symptoms (if any).

You will first need to complete the initial paperwork. We will send this to you in advance of your first session so that you can e-mail it back to us or bring it with you to the appointment. You can also complete the paperwork in the office lobby before your appointment. Alternatively, you can find them here.

At the start of your appointment, we will review and discuss your completed paperwork. We will identify your goals and desired issues to work on. From this information, we will then evaluate your training options.

During this assessment we may also suggest some home-use tests that will assist in your overall brain health program. These may include testing neurotransmitters and stress hormones as well as conducting a BrainSpan assessment.

The Second Step: Conducting your QEEG

We conduct a quantitative electroencephalograph (QEEG "brain map"), which enables us to see your unique pattern of mental strengths and weaknesses - areas of the brain where there is too little or too much activity, and areas that are not coordinating their activity the best they could. A brain map involves a set of sensors fixed to a cap; it looks and feels like a swimming cap. The sensors read the electrical impulses from your brain, giving us details of your brain activity so we can design your brain training program.

This appointment time also gives you the chance to see what we do, and find out what you can expect from the training.

We conduct a QEEG to design your neurofeedback training program. Once we can see the reason for your struggles on a brain level, we can create a neurofeedback training program to help resolve it.

The Third Step: Debriefing

Once we've interpreted your brain maps, we can design your custom brain training program based off of the detailed QEEG report and any lab test results.
